Beyond templating: Electronic structure impacts of aromatic cations in organic–inorganic antimony chlorides

Abstract Organic cations influence the crystal packing and, less commonly, electronic structure of hybrid organic–inorganic materials. Two new compounds prepared from solution, (PEA)SbCl 6 and (PEA) 4 Sb 2 Cl 12 (PEA=phenylethylammonium), demonstrate how aromatic PEA cation modifies structures relative to inorganic antimony chlorides.
